Social distancing may have changed our plans for the next few weeks, but one thing has not changed: the Lord's Presence in our lives and the ministry taking place around the world. God is still moving in Chiapas as churches continue to be built and lives continue to be changed.

In this newsletter, you'll hear about how you can be praying for the people of Chiapas during COVID-19, read our next "Meet the Team" story about Juan Carlos and his family, hear an update on Casa de Esperanza and see how the members of Torre Fuerte are helping medical workers during the pandemic.

COVID-19: Prayers for Chiapas

COVID-19 continues to grow and affect more people each day and as we have seen in our own lives, it takes many resources to fight against it. Please pray for the people of Chiapas, especially the indigenous people, as COVID-19 continues to spread. Most indigenous people do not have access to basic medical resources or hygiene products and would be tremendously affected if the virus reaches them. Pray that the Lord would protect them, provide resources when needed and use the church to bring people together.

During this time, we will continue to build churches in Chiapas without groups from the United States. In addition, our clinics and other ministries will continue to run throughout the duration of the pandemic. We are believing Romans 8:28 over our ministries during this time and trust that the Lord has everything under control! We know that He will meet the needs of the people of Chiapas as well as the ministries working there.

"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28 NIV

"And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:19 NIV

Meet the Team: Juan Carlos

Juan Carlos and his family are a vital part of our team in Chiapas. When teams arrive, Juan Carlos is one of the first faces they will see. He knows his way around the state better than anyone and makes sure our teams get from point A to point B when on the ground. Juan's family is also actively involved in the ministry. His wife Anne cooks for our teams when they stay in Tuxtla and takes care of cleaning the clinic in Tuxtla and Casa de Esperanza. Their sons occasionally accompany teams to church build sites to help finish the project. Juan Carlos and his family love to serve, especially together, and are a blessing to all who know them.
Juan Carlos is a hard worker and constantly goes out of his way to make sure our teams are taken care of. We have found many times that he is taking care of things that have not even been asked of him. He has a true heart to serve others and last year graduated from the International Bible Institute in Chiapas.

We appreciate Juan Carlos, Anne and their sons for all of their hard work and dedication to ministry. To those who know Juan Carlos and his family, be sure to tell them "thank you" next time you are in Chiapas!

Update: Casa de Esperanza

Casa de Esperanza opened at the beginning of February and is currently home to Lidia and her six children. Over the past few weeks, Lidia has been in weekly Bible studies with a few ladies from church and her children have started taking music classes. Lidia is so thankful for the protection of a home, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. She and her children are loving their time at Casa de Esperanza and are all thankful for the opportunity to experience healing through Christ. Please continue to pray for Lidia and her children as they continue to find restoration.

Shields for Medical Workers

Pastor Carlos and his wife Barbara have been busy making shields for medical workers using their 3D-printer! They have been able to bless so many people, including one of our own pastors. Pastor Jorge is pictured below picking up masks for a doctor in his congregation. We love seeing the church come together during this time to help one another and spread the Hope of Christ in a very practical way.
Thank you for your continued support of Pogue Family Missions and for being a part of sharing the love of Christ in Mexico. We believe that God will continue to change lives and are so excited to play a part in bringing glory to His Kingdom.
