As we continue to navigate through these challenging times, we want to keep you updated on what is happening in Chiapas. Below, you will find an update on COVID-19 in Chiapas, read our next "Meet the Team" section about Dr. Lulu Gordillo, find an update on Casa de Esperanza, and an update on Christmas at the orphanage. We pray that you are staying healthy during this time and ask that you continue to pray with us for our friends in Chiapas.

Prayer Needs: COVID-19 in Chiapas

Torre Fuerte reopened last month after being closed since March due to COVID-19. They are seeing more and more members return each week and are continuing to take precautions such as wearing masks, seating church members at a distance from each other as well as providing opportunities to sanitize. The members are very excited to have the opportunity to return to church! Some members continue to stay home and social distance, but they are glad to see things slowly returning to normal. We are so thankful that the church is open again and people are able to worship together.

People are beginning to find their new normal and are navigating through this time together. We are seeing great progress in Chiapas as things continue to open, but many people are still being impacted by the virus both physically and financially. Please continue to pray for the people of Chiapas, for health, healing and provision during this time. God has carried us this far and we know He will carry us through this!

"And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:19

“Don't be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

Meet the Team: Dr. Lulu Gordillo

Meet Dr. Lulu Gordillo! Dr. Lulu, her husband Raul and her three children Pablo, Ana and David attend Torre Fuerte Church in Tuxtla. They have been faithful members of the church for many years and love to serve the church in any way they can. Dr. Lulu works at the clinic located in Chenalhó. She spends two days a week serving the people in Chenalhó and a third day serving the people in the surrounding areas of Chenalhó. They see about 100 people each week. The clinic in Chenalhó most often sees patients with gastrointestinal problems, like gastritis and parasites, and nutritional deficiencies. Dr. Lulu loves to serve the people that come to the clinic and help them find a treatment for the problems they are experiencing. She is very thankful for the opportunity to be a part of this ministry and we are very thankful to have her on our team! Please be praying for Dr. Lulu as she continues to serve the community of Chenalhó, especially during these times.

Casa de Esperanza Update

Casa de Esperanza is flourishing and continuing to make a difference in the lives of the women and children there. This past month, they celebrated the birthday of Lidia's middle son, Angel! Lidia and her family are doing very well. They, along with the newest guest of Casa de Esperanza, are taking English classes, a finance course where they are learning how to manage money, and working through a recovery book. Along with these classes, they are all attending a weekly Bible study. Our newest guest is not pictured due to legal reasons, but she is doing great and is getting the help needed to get back on her feet. Please continue to pray for these women and children as they continue to walk through the recovery process and rediscover the call that God has on their lives.

Casa Hogar Alegre Christmas Update

As many of you know, we had to make the hard decision to cancel our annual Christmas trip to the orphanage, Casa Hogar Alegre. This decision was not made lightly as we know that this is always a wonderful trip for the team and the children. Since we are unable to physically be there this year, we are working on finding an alternative way to be a part of their Christmas experience. Please be on the lookout for updates on how you can be a part of this. Thank you for working with us as we all navigate through these challenges!

Thank you for your continued support of Pogue Family Missions and for being a part of sharing the love of Christ in Mexico. We believe that God will continue to change lives and are so excited to play a part in bringing glory to His Kingdom.
