This year has been full of many different challenges, but we are so thankful to serve a God that carries us through it all! Even in the midst of the storm, He is working on our behalf. We know these times have been particularly hard on our friends in Chiapas, but we are encouraged by their unwavering faith in the Lord as He continues to supply all their needs. Below, you will read a brief update on the situation in Chiapas, meet Rony Mejia in our next "Meet the Team" section, and hear an update on our efforts to fund 5 more churches this year. Thank you for your continued prayer and support as we navigate through these times and discover how we can best serve the people of Chiapas.

Prayer Needs: COVID-19 in Chiapas

Things have slowly been opening up in Chiapas over the last few months. This past month, many churches reopened for in-person services. Members of Torre Fuerte were able to return on August 16th for their first in-person service since March. Although church is open, many people have chosen to continue attending church online and practice social distancing. Church members are encouraged to wear a mask during service and Torre Fuerte has set up a sanitizing station for people to use as they enter the building. We are so excited to see things continuing to safely open in Chiapas!

Although things are reopening and people are finding their new normal, there are still many cases of COVID-19 in Chiapas. Families are being impacted by the virus, both physically and financially, and many are in need of a miracle. Please continue to pray for the people of Chiapas during these unprecedented times. We know that God is working things out behind the scenes and is taking care of the people we love so much!

"And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:19

“Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me.” Psalm 23:4

Meet the Team: Rony Mejia

Say 'hello' to Rony! Rony is a hard worker and plays a big part in the construction of each church. Along with Diego, whom you met last month, and a few other team members, Rony helps transport materials to the build site and prepares the structure for our teams by building windows, door frames and roof trusses, and assisting with putting up the walls. When our teams are on the ground, they are likely to find Rony sitting on top or walking around the upper perimeter of the church welding. Rony attends Torre Fuerte in Tuxtla and has many roles there. He plays bass on the worship team, runs audio and helps maintain the church grounds. Rony has two beautiful daughters and serves the Lord in all he does. We are so thankful for Rony and all of the hard work he puts into each church build!

Answering Prayers

One of our favorite parts of each church build is the dedication of the church building at the completion of the project. Typically, the dedication begins by the pastor of the church speaking for a few moments to their congregation and to our team. Most times, this is a very emotional time as these pastors and church members are seeing their prayers answered. To end each church dedication, we gather around the building, lay hands on it and spend time praying for the church. These prayers are some of the most powerful and moving prayers to hear. People crying out to God in thankfulness for all that He has provided for them. It is always a beautiful reminder of God's faithfulness in our lives. He sees us and knows exactly what we need.

We would love to help answer the prayers of the pastors and congregations that have been fervently praying for a church building.  Thanks to your generous donations over the past few weeks, we have now been able to fully fund 4 of the 9 churches we committed to this year. Would you prayerfully consider donating to help provide these miracles to the communities in Chiapas?

To build the remaining 5 churches, we need to raise an additional $57,500.
